Engineering roadmaps look intimidating, but they answer three questions: what are we building, why now, and what are we explicitly not doing.
The three lenses
Outcome (what changes for users), effort (rough sizing), and dependency (what has to ship before this). If a roadmap doesn't make all three visible, ask for a version that does.
